Introduction

The Metropolitan Research Chair in Pension Law Studies in the Faculty of Law at the National
University of Lesotho is the first named Research Chair in the country’s higher education histo-
ry. The Metropolitan Research Chair in Pension Law Studies is a partnership between the Facul-
ty of Law at the National University of Lesotho and Metropolitan Lesotho Limited. The partner-
ship was established in November 2020 to promote research in pension studies; develop and
offer professional development programmes; and organise public discussions about pension
